A thorough renovation of four Victorian wood-frame row houses
dating from the late 19th century. The structure was first stripped
down to the frame and it was found to be structurally sound. Once
it was determined that the framing was in good condition, the
ground-up renovation could begin.
The renovation included, but was not limited to; all new systems,
new roofing, new windows, new interior non-bearing partitions, new
egress stairs, and precise replication and installation of all
exterior architectural detail to match the original.
The finished product was 10,050 gross square feet at the first,
second, and third floors. Including a large living room, a fully
functional kitchen as well as 20 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms.
The 3,753 square foot basement housed laundry, storage and
mechanical space.
4 months was the original schedule, including restoration of only 20% of the exterior. The scope grew to include replication of All exterior components, but the time frame didn't. A special thanks to the Cambridge ISD for enabling a final inspection on the Saturday evening of the Labor Day weekend
